Front cover:
Front cover:
The overall look of the digipak is has a disco/nightlife
feel with the bright colours promote an exciting and impacting vibe and feel to
the digipak with the lighting. Also the typography adds to this since it is
written in bright red; however this font also has other connotations since it
symbolises danger and lust. The album and video has a narrative which shows the
pitfalls of temptation and that is why the album name was chosen. The white
outline on the word temptation shows innocence being smothered by lust and heartbreak,
the exterior hides the little innocence within. The font is carefully chosen to
appear as if it was written by a lipstick which is also shown in the video
since this has connotation of vengeance and sexuality and the femininity of
women. I found clipart of lips on the internet to replace the ‘O’ in temptation.
I felt like the lips with the shine and teeth worked best to give a seductive and
indeed ironic edge to the word TEMPTATION. I cut round this shape using the
polygon tool and deleted the outside. I altered the scale, rotation and outline
to make my lips more fitting with the font so that it did not look out of place.
The other font chosen
to portray the artist name is soft and hand written, like the real digipak, it
allows the cover to look like it has been signed or autographed to emulate and
create a sense of a star image. I also made this 3D to reflect the depth of my
image of Meg leaning back within the font. The reviews are also written with
the contrasting black and white outline to show them up and make sure they are
read since they are positive feedback on the album; the font is clear and bold.
The extreme close up of her face helps the customer to
identify it is hers from a distance (similarly to the real digipak). The
photograph has several purposes and connotations, for example my artist’s eyes
are making direct contact with the camera and are therefore seductively staring
at the customer, however they are also joyfully looking at the camera to
influence the joy that the customer will experience when buying the album. The
interesting high angle of the image was chosen to be eye-catching and draw the
audience in to buying my album. The close up dominates the shot and therefore
is impacting. My artist provocatively leans backwards off a chair to connote
this sexuality that she expresses in the video, the way her hair falls as she
leans back, mocks women as a sex symbol but shows immense power against the
advances of men.
The outfit for my artist shows this attitude. I chose a
denim jacket with sharp spikes to connote rebellion and angst, to give my
artist protection and show strength inside and out. I emphasised these spikes
by blurring the jacket by applying Gaussian blur and erasing the feature of
spikes so they are clearer and impacting and edgy just like my review says her
vocals are.
I added a parental advisory sticker to show that my artist’s
songs were rebellious; however I manipulated this common convention by parodying
(a post-modern feature) the theme in my video that my protagonists love leads
could lead the victim to suicide.
Inside images:
1. I used the picture of the background of my music video so that the overall look of the digipak has a disco/nightlife feel. The bright colours and shapes promote and exciting vibe to the digipak and essentially the songs on the cd. This continuous image is shown on my chorus too so it helped to promote all my products as a trio.
2. The next image I chose was of my artist stood leaning towards the camera with to other dancers standing seductively at her side. They are all smiling smugly to promote 'girl power' and control a sense of heroism. The way my artist leans forward increases the depth of the shot and contrasts with the front of the album where she leans backwards. I also included a record label here to brand the digipak and products.
Spiral:
I added a grey pattern with white stripes to connote rebellion and a dark and mysterious tone to influence my audience to want to listen to the songs. I also included this pattern on my magazine promo. this also relates to the 'edgy vocals' in the reviews as it is breaks the norm of a just a plain grey box.
The fonts used:

PICTURE 1:
I added a grey pattern with white stripes to the sides of this image to connote rebellion and a dark and mysterious tone to influence my audience to want to listen to the songs. I also included this pattern on my magazine promo. This also relates to the 'edgy vocals' in the reviews as it is breaks the norm of a just a plain grey box. The long shot frames my protagonists whole body as she reaches upwards as if flying above everyone with godly power.
The other dancers standing seductively at her side again promote 'girl power' and control a sense of heroism. The way my artist stretches upwards increases the depth of the shot, and contrasts with the front of the album where she leans backwards. The circle of the cd frames this shot perfectly and represents her music. It is taken directly from my music video and links all products together.

As you can see the idea is developed from Marina's vintage feel of
the background to my modern background.

Back of digipak:
I used the theme of the background of my music video so that
the overall look of the digipak has a disco/nightlife feel. The bright colours
and shapes promote and exciting vibe to the digipak and essentially the songs on
the cd. This continuous background pattern is shown on my chorus too so it
helped to promote all my products as a trio. I had my artist jump into the air
to connote this lively and exciting feel further. She is shown to be energetic
and a powerful woman.

The songs are written in a clear and easily readable font,
the same font used to write my reviews etc. to create a house style and
continuity. The contrasting black and white outline to show them to make sure
they are read. The contrast of black and white could connote the struggle
between innocence (good) and guilt (evil) that is portrayed within my video.
The song list is alternately spread out and disjointed on the back of the cover
to emulate my artist jumping, but also to emphasise that the songs all come
from her since they surround her and equally dominate the splash.
The mid close up of her half of my artists body is a
different shot rather than close ups and long shots to vary the album. The
photograph has several purposes and connotations, for example my artist’s eyes
are making direct contact with the camera and are therefore seductively staring
at the customer, however they are also joyfully looking at the camera to
influence the joy that the customer will experience when buying the album again
similarly to my other photos. The energy
is connoting due to my artists hair being captured whilst jumping in the air to
create a dynamic feel which reflective of the song list. The outfit for my
artist shows this attitude. I chose a denim jacket with sharp spikes to connote
rebellion and angst, to give my artist protection and show strength inside and
out. I emphasised these spikes by blurring the jacket by applying Gaussian blur
and erasing the feature of spikes so they are clearer and impacting and edgy

Furthermore, I added a record label to help identify and
brand my product. I wrapped the text around the snake
and embossed it with the stroke tool. I also used the same font as I used in
the digipak for OREA ELENI to allow continuity. The
snake looks powerful and vicious which is what I wanted it to be like regarding
the quote:
Look like the innocent flower,
but be the serpent under't (1.5.74-5)
Some editors believe these lines
derive from Virgil's Eclogues 3.93,
You, picking flowers and strawberries
that grow
So near the ground, fly hence, boys,
get you gone!
There's a cold adder lurking in the
grass.
For me, it is a memorable
quotation from Shakespeare's Macbeth and portrays themes of evil lurking under
the innocence; a strange and intriguing idea that is presented by the heart
breaker in my video.
